Dr Yong Thon Hon is a Senior Consultant Cardiologist with sub specialised accreditation in interventional cardiology. He graduated from University of Aberdeen, Scotland in year 2007 and underwent foundation year doctor training in Glasgow. He obtained the Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) in 2010 and subsequently completed advanced cardiology specialist training in Singapore. During the year of 2018, he pursued his interventional cardiology fellowship training at Imperial College London where he obtained his expertise in complex coronary intervention and participated in various coronary physiology research studies.

In his daily practice, Dr Yong manages and treats various heart conditions including coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart diseases, heart arrythmias etc. He spends significant proportion of his working hours in cardiac catheterisation lab performing invasive coronary angiogram and angioplasty.

Prior to private practice, Dr Yong was the Director of Coronary Care Unit at Changi General Hospital as well as a visiting consultant to National Heart Center Singapore. In addition, he actively participated in both undergraduate and postgraduate educational activities. He was a clinical assistant professor at DUKE-NUS medical school and holding position as physician faculty member of cardiology and advanced internal medicine senior residency program.

Dr Yong holds a strong belief that medicine is beyond science and healing is an art. It takes times and requires patience. As a physician, one should always treat his patients with dignity, respect and empathy.
