  • Dr Sriram Narayanan is a general surgeon practising at Gleneagles Hospital and Mount Elizabeth Hospitals, Singapore.
  • He subspecialises in vascular surgery, which involves treating diseases of the arteries, veins and lymphatic system.

  • Dr Narayanan completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) in India in 1993. He then underwent basic surgical training at the Sir Jamsetjee Jejeebhoy Hospital in Mumbai, India, where he attained his Master of Surgery in 1997. Thereafter, Dr Narayanan received advanced training in gastrointestinal, thoracic (chest) and hepatobiliary (liver, gall bladder, bile duct) surgery in Liverpool and Cornwall, UK, followed by 2 years of research on transplantation in Nottingham, UK.
  • Subsequently, Dr Narayanan underwent subspecialty training in vascular surgery at Cardiff University’s School of Medicine in 2002. In 2008, Dr Narayanan became a senior vascular fellow at the Imperial College London, UK under Dr Alun Davies, who chaired the academic section of vascular surgery. During his fellowship, Dr Narayanan trained at the vascular units of the Charing Cross Hospital and St Mary’s Hospital in London, UK.
  • Dr Narayanan was formerly a consultant vascular surgeon at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH). During his stint, he was the chief of vascular surgery and a core faculty member of the surgical residency programme at the National Healthcare Group, Singapore.
  • Dr Narayanan’s research publications include transplantation, vascular access and endovascular surgery, which is a minimally invasive surgery. He is also a peer reviewer for the International Journal of Surgery.
  • Dr Narayanan trains doctors in venous reconstruction surgery, intravascular ultrasound and aortic surgery in Southeast Asia. He was the chairman of the Asian Venous Forum organised by the Asian Society for Vascular Surgery in 2016.
  • Aside from clinical work, Dr Narayanan supervised the research of Doctor of Philosophy students on the computer modelling of Asian aortic aneurysms at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. He is currently an adjunct assistant professor in the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at the National University of Singapore (NUS).
