Background

Dr Ong graduated with MBBS from the National University of Singapore and underwent postgraduate training and HMDP fellowship in Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgical Training, Neonatal Cardiac Surgery and Arrhythmia Surgery.

Dr Ong established the Paediatric Cardiac Surgery Training Programme at Singapore General Hospital in the 1980s, when he was attached to the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery. From 1992-1995, Dr Ong was appointed Head of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Hospital. Dr Ong was appointed Deputy Director of the Singapore Heart Centre (presently known as the National Heart Centre Singapore) from 1996 to 1997. He is currently the Head of Paediatric Cardiac Surgery at K.K. Women’s and Children’s Hospital. He is also a consultant at the Cardiothoracic Surgical Centre Singapore at Mount Elizabeth Hospital as well as a visiting consultant for Cardiothoracic Surgery at the National Heart Centre in the National University Hospital. He is also currently a visiting consultant to JPMC Jerudong Hospital in Brunei.

Dr Ong’s clinical interests include Paediatric Cardiac Surgery and Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery.
