Info	Dr Lynette Ngo is a medical oncologist at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Singapore. Her areas of interest include breast and gynaecologic cancers, hereditary cancers and genetic counselling, psychosocial oncology and palliative medicine, as well as general medical oncology. After graduating from the National University of Singapore in 1996, she pursued a master’s degree in internal medicine, and obtained her membership of the Royal College of Physicians in the UK in 2002. She received her postgraduate diploma in palliative medicine from Edith Cowan University, Australia, and obtained her specialist accreditation in medical oncology from the Academy of Medicine, Singapore. She also completed the Intensive Course in Cancer Risk Assessment at City of Hope Hospital, California. In pursuing her subspecialty interest in gynaecologic cancers, Dr Ngo was awarded the Health Manpower Development Programme Award to spend a year at the Gillette Center for Gynecologic Oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), USA. Dr Ngo spent 7 years practising at the National Cancer Centre, Singapore (NCCS) from 2005 – 2012. Aside from being a clinical tutor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS, she was also a visiting consultant to Gynaecologic Cancer Centre and Breast Centre at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, as well as to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. In addition, she spent 5 years caring for patients in hospice home cares and inpatient hospice services in the community. Dr Ngo is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, European Society of Clinical Oncology, Asian Society of Gynaecologic Oncology, and Singapore Society of Oncology. She also serves on the Singapore Cancer Network guidelines committee. In collaboration with MGH’s gynaecologic oncology team, Dr Ngo designed and conducted several investigator-initiated clinical trials, testing novel drugs and treatment strategies in subsets of gynaecologic cancers with molecularly defined pathways. She received a grant from the SingHealth Foundation for her research work and was involved in multiple clinical trials focusing on breast and gynaecologic cancers. She has also contributed to several publications in peer-reviewed journals, and written book chapters. In 2013, Dr Ngo started a cancer patient support programme at a private hospital in Singapore to provide education, psychosocial and emotional support throughout the cancer journey, after recognising the challenges faced by patients, caregivers and survivors.
