Background | Dr Lim Tiong Keng is a Consultant Cardiologist and Accredited Specialist in Advanced Echocardiography and Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) at the Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre and Hospital. With over 20 years of clinical experience, his clinical practice includes management of coronary artery disease, hypertension, arrhythmia, valvular heart disease, dyslipidaemia and adult congenital heart disease. Currently, Dr Lim is a Visiting Consultant at the National Heart Centre Singapore. He was an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Duke NUS Graduate Medical School, a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS and a Core Clinical Faculty Member of the Singhealth Cardiology Senior Residency Program prior joining the private practice. Dr Lim graduated MBBS from the prestigious United Medical & Dental Schools of Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospitals (University of London, King’s College London) in 1998 and obtained his post graduate MRCP (UK) qualification in 2002. Subsequently he obtained further post graduate qualification with award of the Doctor of Medicine under University of London through his cardiac research work at the Northwest London NHS Trust under the mentorship of Professor Roxy Senior. Dr Lim was triple accredited in both transthoracic & transoesophageal echocardiography (TEE) awarded by the British Society of Echocardiography in 2007 & 2012 respectively and he furthers obtained accreditation in transthoracic echocardiography by the European Association of Echocardiography in 2009. He passed the Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Accreditation Examination set by the ESC Working Group on Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance in 2012. Following completion of the Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance training in the Royal Brompton Hospital, London (UK) and Glenfield Heart Centre, Leicester (UK), he achieved level 3 accreditation in cardiac MRI set by the Society of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (USA) in 2013. Additionally, he has expertise in various cardiac imaging with particular emphasis on advanced echocardiography (stress echo, contrast echo, TAVI TEE, intra-operative TEE, interventional TEE & 3D TEE) and cardiac MRI (1.5T and 3T) with full range of studies undertaken including angiography, cardiomyopathy, stress cardiac MRI (Adenosine), viability assessment, quantification of ventricular function and valvular disease. In recognition of his academic and clinical achievement in the field of Cardiology, he was elected for the prestigious fellowship endorsed by the European Society of Cardiology and the American College of Cardiology in 2013. In addition, he is a reviewer for several peer-reviewed international journals. With his expertise in advance cardiac imaging, he was appointed as a grader for the echocardiography accreditation under the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI) since 2014 and a grader for the abstract submission for one of the world largest Cardiology Scientific Meeting organised by the European Society of Cardiology. With Dr Lim’s track record on his academic and clinical excellence, he was bestowed with the Silver award for Singhealth Clinical Service in 2016 and subsequently he was appointed as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Duke NUS Graduate Medical School in 2018. Dr Lim has been presented both at the national and international platforms and published more than 30 peer reviewed medical scientific papers in some of the most prestigious internationally recognised cardiology journals with high impact factor such as the Circulation, Journal of American College Cardiology, European Heart Journal, American Journal of Cardiology and Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography. |
