Dr Wong graduated from National University of Singapore with his basic medical degree (MBBS) in 2003 and continued his post graduate basic surgical training in Singapore. He went on to obtain his higher surgical qualifications (MRCS) in Glasglow, UK and was accredited by the Ministry of Health (Singapore) as a Hand Surgeon in 2015.

He was awarded the Singapore Society for Hand Surgery, Travelling Fellowship and American Society for Surgery of the Hand, International Travelling Fellowship for 2014 and completed his travelling fellowship at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York with Dr Andrew J Weiland, who is known for his pioneering work and expertise in microvascular surgery of the Hand and also at C.V. Starr Hand Surgery Center at Mount Sinai West, New York with Dr Steven Glickel, who is devoted to surgery of the hand, wrist, forearm and elbow with particular interest in Dupuytren disease, arthritis reconstruction, trauma, nerve compression, elbow surgery, arthroscopy and sports injuries.

He has been working in Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) since 2011 and served as Chief of the Hand & Microsurgery Section there from 2015-2016. He continues as a visiting consultant in TTSH and is actively involved in the training of the junior surgeons and residents.

Associated Treatments

Dr Wong’s clinical interest include treatment of all hand and wrist trauma and fractures, arthritis, nerve compression, replantations and reconstructive microsurgery. He has a special interest in minimally invasive surgery for the hand & wrist problems, including wrist arthroscopy, arthroscopic assisted surgery, percutaneous fixation and endoscopic peripheral nerve surgery. He also manages sports related injuries of the wrist and hand.

Publications

His research work includes international publications in the field of Hand & Reconstructive Microsurgery and also on the education of Hand Surgery training in Singapore.

Associations

Dr Wong was an Adjunct Assistant Professor during his tenure in TTSH and was involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. He served as the Program Director of the National Healthcare Group, Hand Surgery Residency training program and the Associate Programme Director of the National Integrated Program for Hand Surgery Residency. He was also the Fellowship Director for Hand & Reconstructive Microsurgery in TTSH.
