Dr JJ Chua graduated from the Medical School of National University of Singapore in 1990 with a MBBS degree.

In 1993, he was awarded two Fellowships from the Royal Colleges of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Glasgow, United Kingdom.

He underwent advanced plastic surgery training in Singapore General Hospital from 1995. He was awarded the Manpower Development Programme Scholarship given by the Ministry of Health in 2000. He spent a year training in craniofacial reconstruction and laser surgery in Taiwan’s Chang Gung Memorial Hospital. This 4000-bedded private hospital has the biggest plastic surgery department in Taiwan.

He worked as an Associated Consultant in the Wellington Hospital in London in 2001. This private hospital has the busiest and largest cosmetic surgery practice in the whole of the United Kingdom.

He was the Consultant in-charge of Cosmetic Surgery at the Department of Plastic Surgery of Singapore General Hospital, till 2004 when he started his own private practice in Mt Elizabeth Medical Centre.

Dr Chua is frequently featured in local media including radio and television. He was the consultant for the popular TV shows, “The Perfect Cut” Season I and II, aired on Channel U.

Dr Chua has been elected into the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) on 9 June 2023 for a term of 3 years. SMC is the highest medical body in Singapore that maintains the Register of Medical Practitioners, and governs and regulates professional conduct and ethics of registered doctors.
