Background

Dr Anthony Tang is a specialist in General Surgery. He was awarded the ASEAN scholarship for the duration of his high school education in Singapore, and then the Commonwealth Scholarship for Medicine during his undergraduate years in Melbourne, Australia. He completed his postgraduate surgical training, gaining a joint specialist fellowship with the Singapore and United Kingdom (Edinburgh) boards. He has also attained postgraduate Masters in Medicine (Surgery) and Masters in Public Health (Clinical Epidemiology).

A published author, Dr Tang is also a frequent speaker in many local and international conferences. As an active advocate for breast cancer screening, he often organises public symposiums in Singapore. Dr Tang is also passionately involved in surgical outreach programme to the underprivileged parts of Asia. He was co-founder of the surgical volunteer and charity organisation within NUHS, called SOUL.

Dr Tang’s research interest is in medical device innovation, and in 2011, he was awarded the inaugural Singapore-Stanford Biodesign Fellowship. He currently holds multiple research portfolios, including being the Fellowship Head at Singapore Stanford Biodesign, and is the Clinician Consultant to I²R, A*STAR.
